Benefits of the New Testament
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds…” Hebrews 1:1, 2
We Have a Better Covenant Established on Better Promises
The way God approached man in each dispensation has always been different.
a. Innocence - God walked with Adam and Eve in the Gard at the same time every day.
b. Conscience - Human government - Direct voice from heaven, visitation by angels and Jesus Christ Himself.
c. Law - Direct voice, written law, sacrifices, smoke rock, cloud.
The way man has approached God has always been the same.
a. Faith for salvation.
b. Faith for pleasing God in daily walk and growth.
The Old Testament should be studied in light of the New Testament.
a. Why study the shadows when we have the real thing.
b. The New Testament fulfilled the Old Testament - it does not destroy it.
c. Summer fulfills spring - it does not destroy it. Manhood fulfills childhood - it does not destroy it.
God’s Benefits to Us Have Changed From the Old Testament to the New Testament
No spiritual birth to the new birth.
Accounted righteous to being righteous.
Servants in the house of God, now sons and daughters.
The Holy Spirit being with the believer to with, in, and on a believer.
The Holy Spirit living in the tabernacle and temple to the believer being the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Believers going to Paradise, Abraham’s Bosom at death to going directly to heaven at death.
Seeing a priest to approach God to a kingdom of priests.
Guidance through prophets and priests to individual guidance.
The Holy Spirit gifts operated in prophet, priest, and king, to each believer can operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The House of Israel to the Church and Bride of Christ.
