Look At Nature

God’s Nature Is Healing

A. Nature Teaches Healing

“Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:19, 20 NKJV

Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:19, 20 NIV

The Earth and Universe Teaches Us

  1. God plainly puts His character and plans before mankind.

  2. God is and always has been omnipotent (all-powerful).

  3. Nature teaches us about the Trinity (Godhead).

  4. Without a preacher, nature teaches us of salvation.

  5. Nature teaches God’s love, the power of the Spirit, and redemption.

  6. At God’s judgment of all unbelievers, everyone will be without excuse.

B. Nature Teaches God’s Plan and Position for Man

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:” Psalms 8:3-6

  1. To the redeemed man, nature shows man’s place in God’s plan.

  2. Man was given dominion and nature serves man.

    a. Plants and animals are our food.

    b. They are also our clothing

  3. Nature helps to keep us well.

    a. Plants exchange our carbon dioxide for its oxygen.

    b. Leaches used to be are, again, being used to clean open sores.

    c. Medicines to cure sickness come from plants and animals.

C. We Are Made in God’s Image

“God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” Genesis 1:26

  1. Our spirit was made in God’s image and our body in His likeness.

  2. God’s nature is healing and He placed His nature in us.

  3. Our body filters out poisons through our breath, sweat, and waste, and keeps the nutrients from our food.

  4. The body is designed to keep itself well, filtering through:

    Lungs, Liver, Kidneys, Appendix, Tonsils

  5. The body builds up its own immunities to everyday pollution.

  6. Our body tries to heal itself from destructive attacks.

    a. If harmful bacteria is in our food, we throw up.

    b. If we don’t throw up, our immune system goes to work and attacks germs, poisons, or disease.

    c. Our blood contains white cells which attack viruses.

    d. Coughing, sneezing, even normal fevers are ways the body expels harmful attacks. Don’t rebuke them.

  7. If healing is not God’s will has God taught nature and our body to fight His will?

D. And Healing is God’s Will

  1. His Name is healing. “Jehovah Rapha,” the God who heals you (Exodus 15:26).

  2. He sent His Word and healed (Psalms 107:20).

  3. He sent His Holy Spirit and healed. “The Spirit is upon Me because He has anointed Me to heal” (Luke 4:18).

  4. When the body cannot heal itself, and nature and doctors cannot conquer it, God has healing methods beyond nature.

    a. Believers can “gang up” on disease.

    b. If two shall agree.

    c. Group prayer meeting (for Peter - Acts 12).

    d. Congregational prayers (with Peter and John - Acts 4)

    e. Call for the elders to pray (James 5).

    f. The gifts of healing and miracles (1 Corinthians 12).

  5. The believer can invoke the word, prayer, and spiritual authority (“whatever you ask in my name” John 14).

E. It is Obvious, Sickness Does Not Come From God

  1. It takes human thinking or religion to come up with the idea that it does. You have to discredit nature.

  2. Has God taught nature to rebel against His will?

  3. Has God designed your own body to rebel against His will?

  4. Why do unsaved men call sickness an enemy? And why do we fight disease?

  5. If sickness comes from God, every medical researcher, doctor, and nurse should be killed as enemies of righteousness.

  6. Luke should have never written his two books or traveled with Paul.

  7. If sickness is a gift of God why do we try to get rid of it?

  8. If it is God’s will for you to be sick, why are you trying so hard and spending so much money to get out of His will?

  9. If sickness comes from God, then sickness is good.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17).

    a. Is sickness a good and perfect gift from God?

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil.” (Acts 10:38)

    b. This verse says specifically sickness comes from the devil, Satan.

    c. Sickness is also called an oppression.

    d. And Jesus healed every sick person.

  10. Why did the crowds rejoice and give God glory when a person was healed? Why not when they were sick?

F. Nature Teaches Us of God’s Will

“Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” (Matthew 8:17)

“And by His stripes, we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4)

  1. Jesus took our sickness and curse on the cross.

  2. Like nature (trees and plants) Jesus absorbed our sicknesses and gives us healing.

  3. We, like Jesus, need to get angry at the works of the enemy.

    a. Sickness is our enemy - a trespasser on God’s property.

    b. We need to rebuke sickness as Jesus did, and taught us. Then command it to leave our body.
