Leadership With All Your Heart
“Thus (making a census) Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before the Lord his God. And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart (excellence). So he prospered.” 2 Chronicles 31:20-21
Hezekiah’s passion toward the things of life began with a passion toward the Lord (Deuteronomy 4:29, Jeremiah 29:13).
Vs. 20 is Hezekiah’s personal and occupational life.
Vs. 21 is Hezekiah’s church life and spiritual service to God.
Hezekiah had an intense commitment to excellence in all he did.
Everything he had done until now had been the same way.
He put excellence into his home, family, and relationships. This carried over into the work of the Lord in God’s house.
Hezekiah worked at each level of his career as if it was permanent.
You are no better at church than at home or in public (Acts 20:20, 1 Timothy 3:4, 5, 7).
a. Home is the testing place for service in church.
b. How you handle people and circumstances at home and work is how you will handle people in God’s house.
The census Hezekiah was to conduct was tedious, boring, and in most cases, uninteresting.
a. How you pour yourself into menial things determines rewards in greater things.
b. If you are not faithful over a few things, He will not make you ruler over much (Matthew 25:21).
c. You never begin with great responsibilities but with small ones - i.e.. making burgers, cleaning a warehouse, grounds keeping, or filing.
d. Compete daily with yourself:
Look for things that nobody else will do .
Make things look better than they did.
Each day, do better what you do best.
a. You will become a standard - a one of a kind
b. A nitch will open up for you no one ever thought of.
“Though your beginning was small your latter days will be very great” Job 8:7
Paul gathered sticks for a fire in Miletas.
You will serve people with the same passion you serve God (Matthew 22:37-40).
Pursuing the Lord and every work in life with excellence produces prosperity (Deuteronomy 11:13-15).
What do you do passionately and will all your heart?
a. Working around the house or your job?
b. Working in the church as an usher, worship leader, band, children, or your worker, etc.?
Let the Lord’s passion to do things for you be your motivation to bless Him and others with all your heart (1 Samuel 12:24).
